Make Your Own Valentines Day Shirts

If there's one scary thing about Valentine's Day, it's the prospect of disappointing the one you love. However, expectations are so incredibly high on February the 14th that you are almost certain to fail. It's an unfortunate fact, but one that most of us are all too familiar with. Giving your partner a successful Valentine's Day is about really knowingwho they are and what they want. It's about making them feel special. It's about making a custom t-shirt design with their face on it and having them see you wear it proudly around town.

History

There are so many stories about the supposedly true history of Valentine's Day that I do not have time to go into them all here. In the first couple centuries there were several Christian martyrs named Valentine who had celebrations in February in honor of their martyrdom. In ancient Greece and Rome, various romance and fertility festivals, including those related to both humans and the gods, were celebrated on or around the 14th of February. Many champion the idea that the first recorded correlation between Valentine's Day and romance was in Chaucer's 1382 poem Parlement of Foules. Soon after, in 1400, a "court of love" was established in Paris on Valentine's Day. This court dealt with marriages, love contracts, violence against women, and other such issues that one might expect from such a court. From these times on, Valentine's Day and romance were inseparable. Intense commercialization came about in the late 1700s and throughout the 1800s. And the rest, as we all know, is history.

Design Ideas

So how do you make an impression with the perfect Valentine's Day shirt design? I am personally a fan of the couples who wear shirts with each others' faces on them, or at least something like "I love BLANK," with blank being the partner's name. So dorky, I know, but so cute at the same time. If you're not into the "gag me with a spoon" cute kind of stuff and just want to make a generic Valentine's Day shirt, I would suggest you keep it simple: red shirt with some white and pink hearts, and maybe a "Be Mine" on there. It's classy and maintains the spirit of the holiday.
