General Cotton and Polyester Information

We offer a nice variety of products. This includes shirts that are 100% cotton and a 50/50 cotton-polyester blend. Most of us have seen shirts that are both styles, but what are the applied differences between the two?

The Right Shirt for Your Climate

Polyester is actually thinner than cotton. When you feel a cotton shirt, it will feel thicker and a bit softer. This doesn't necessarily mean 100% is better, however. It depends on what you're going to be doing. For example, if you're exercising, running, or live in a warmer climate, you probably want to go with 100% cotton. A cotton shirt will release body heat as it builds up, while the polyester will trap it and really heat you up. If you just need a shirt to hang out in or walk in cooler weather, a polyester blend is the perfect choice for you.

Polyester

Polyester helps to balance some of the negative qualities of a cotton shirt as well. A polyester blend is more resistant to shrinking, strong against most harsh chemicals, mildew and abrasion, and is generally more resilient. This means that if you want a shirt that will really last, the 50/50 blend is what you want. We have great 50/50 shirts from Jerzees and Gildan.
